In Birmingham’s work as a production designer, she creates fictional spaces for film while being inspired by real spaces that continue to surprise and inform these spaces. Whether it’s in an existing space or a created one, it’s the contradictions, colors and shapes that form the feeling of being inside that space. The feeling of something familiar and new and how the real and imagined can exist together is what is documented within the pages of “What We Forgot”.
Within the fictitious world Caity creates is a series that explores created messages within - “Imaginary Storefronts” is an ongoing series of altered images that are edited to create emotional misreadings of real signage in their original style and locations.
